About

Bay Area photographer building an archive that can hold both finished edits and the long tail around them.

I started shooting more seriously because living on the Central Coast made it hard not to. After a lot of phone photos and a Canon T6i, I moved to a Sony A7R4 with a 70-200 f/2.8 GM II and a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8. The files are large, the details matter, and this site exists because I wanted somewhere better than Instagram to actually show them.

How The Site Works

Collections are the tighter portfolio edit. Albums are the fuller record. If you open an image, you can view the full-resolution file, zoom in, and move through the surrounding sequence without losing context.

Photography

I mostly shoot landscapes and architecture, with a lot of attention on detail and post-processing. I do not force everything into one treatment, so there is more variation between albums and even inside the same run.

Build Stack

The site runs on Next.js with Tailwind CSS, Supabase, and Cloudflare R2. It exists so the images can actually be seen at a useful size instead of getting compressed into a social feed.

If you make an account, I plan to use it for updates when new work goes up. Prints and paid downloads may come later. Email: m@halvorson.photography.

“Photographs are perhaps the most mysterious of all the objects that make up, and thicken, the environment we recognize as modern. Photographs really are experience captured, and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquisitive mood.”
